"Over the past 5 years I have painted portraits using acrylic paint, often combined with ink, collage, and graphite. Gestural drawing and grids are often prominent. My aim is to convey the cognitive and emotional states of the subject.
My approach to creating art has become increasingly experimental over the past decade, after rehabilitating from a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) which was cause by an accident in 2004."
David Genest has studied painting and drawing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA; The Studios of Key West; and The Bascom Center for Visual Arts in Highlands, NC.
